How are you approaching this weekend?
The same as all race weekends, dedication, concentration, team effort and lots of common sense.
What are your feelings about the Silverstone circuit?
As a driver its one of my favourite circuits, I guess I think of it as special because its’ my home turf. Its’ always great to see kids notice the union jack next to my name, it always brings an extra cheer during open pit walk. But aside my personal feelings I think it's a cool driver’s circuit. Silverstone has lots of overtaking opportunities, it’s very fast, its really exciting which helps make it a fantastic weekend of racing for the fans.
What are the challenges?
Recently its’ all been about track time – being able to let loose on the track in my own thoughts, my own time doing my own thing… its’ proving a major draw back this season – I think lots of the drivers are experiencing the same set backs. The team have been working really hard to make progress with the car and I’m really looking forward to climbing back in behind the wheel.
How do you feel?
Physically - I feel great! I’ve been training, mostly running. Running is a fantastic way for me to escape all the stress of pre-race politics. Sometimes its good to get lost in my own thoughts and spend some time on my own away from the hassle that sometimes follows racing – I’ve lost a few kg’s in the gym.
How do you think this season is going?
It’s been tough; competition is high which hopefully makes it all the more exciting for the fans. I’m realistic to know that the results haven’t come immediately this season.
You have to be realistic in racing. You have to be self-confident but keep your feet on the ground. I have a great team of people around me.
This weekend?
For me – I’m feeling really confident – I love the track, the challenge. I’m planning to take it to the limit!
